In these wild, fractious days, where violence and raw hatred run like a fever through the veins of our world, we’ve got to watch our tongues when it comes to slapping labels like “dangerous” or “false teacher” on folks who see things differently. That kind of talk is like tossing matches into the dry grass of troubled minds and might just spark some poor soul to think they’re doing God’s work by raising a hand against a brother or sister in Christ.
Now, don’t get me wrong. There are theological stances out there that I’d swear are so far off the gospel’s mark they’re practically dancing with the antichrist. But you won’t catch me in the public square, megaphone in hand, shouting “false teacher!” or slapping “heretic” on a church door. I’m not in the business of burning bridges by lobbing the religious equivalent of a Molotov Cocktail. We’ve been handed the ministry of reconciliation, people. That’s a divine call to stitch things back together, not tear them apart. Our survival as a society depends upon it.
